Get ready for Alberta fiddle legend Alfie Myhre alongside his son Byron and grandson Tanner playing the catchiest fiddle and guitar old time music this side of the Sturgeon River, the infectious rhythms and warm, uplifting harmonies of Jed and The Valentine and special guest Luc Gauthier who will do a Métis dance demo with the Myhre Brothers

The Myhre Brothers
Three generations of music royalty. The Myhre Brothers are none other than Alfie (father), Byron (son) and Tanner (grandson) -- three of the finest musicians we have in the Edmonton area.

Founding Edmonton’s Myhre’s Music in 1967, Alfie was already well-known for his dramatic fiddle playing, having appeared with some of the best-known musicians in Canada, most notably, Wilf Carter.  Alfie was inducted into the Country Music Alberta Hall of Fame in 2020 and is a two-time Grand North American Old-Time fiddling champion. Alfie Myhre is a true Canadian Music Legend.

Byron is also a tasteful guitar player and multi-instrumentalist. He was a member of Alberta’s legendary bluegrass band Jerusalem Ridge and has most recently been a member of the popular River City Playboys. He has toured with John Reischman & the Jaybirds and played across Canada with other artists, including Ben Sures and Will White. Byron continues the tradition of running the family music store.

Tanner is an accomplished guitarist known to pull off some Eric Johnson riffs but flat-pick like Tony Rice after several coffees. Tanner is a solid anchor to the fiddle madness of his elders.

Jed and The Valentine
Armed with their brand of prairie-folk, Edmonton’s Jed and the Valentine write sun-dappled, genre-defying folk songs that blend soul-stirring harmonies with earthy guitar strums and wistful banjo plucking. In just a few years, the duo has seen growth happen in double time; they have quickly grown their social media following collectively to a quarter of a million and have found themselves on the stages of major folk festivals in Western Canada, proving quickly that this duo is undeniably one to watch. A pair of dreamers, Jed and The Valentine, excitedly look forward to their sophomore album, ‘In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb’

Luc Gauthier
Luc Gauthier is a St. Albert resident who has always taken great pride in his Métis heritage. A Métis Jigger for 21 years, he has truly found a passion within his culture and values every second to showcase who he is. He is now a full-time musician with his band Calling All Captains, as well as a jigging instructor for the St. Albert Métis Local.
