Nilanjan Chaudhuri (Neil)
Born into a musical family, Nilanjan Chaudhuri (Neil) grew up in Varanasi, India, surrounded by music from an early age. Inspired by his parents and elder brother, he began training in vocals and percussion under the tutelage of Pt. Mahadev Prasad Mishra and his illustrious mother, Vidushi Purnima Chaudhuri.
From his early years, Neil was deeply inspired by the legendary Bollywood singer Kishore Kumar. Kishore Kumar's mellifluous voice and unforgettable songs from the Golden Era of Bollywood captivated Neil as a young boy and continue to influence his musical journey today.
Over the years, Neil has performed extensively across Southeast Asia, the Asia-Pacific region, the United States, and Canada, bringing his passion for timeless Bollywood music to audiences around the world.
Manjit Singh – Saxophonist
Born and raised in Jalandhar, Punjab, India, Manjit Singh has enjoyed a long association with music and has worked extensively with the Mumbai (Bombay) music industry, performing with legendary music directors in live concerts and other musical engagements.
A particularly cherished chapter of his musical journey was his association with the legendary Mohammed Rafi Sahib during 1974–75, an experience that continues to inspire him.
An accomplished saxophonist with decades of musical experience, Manjit now looks forward to bringing the melodies and nostalgia of Bollywood’s golden era to Edmonton audiences, sharing the stage in a celebration of timeless Indian music.
Shailaja Narayan
Shailaja Narayan is a trained Carnatic classical vocalist and a recipient of the Sahitya Kala Parishad Scholarship, awarded to further her training in classical music.
She was also an artist with All India Radio and has performed at various venues across India. Now based in Edmonton, Shailaja continues to share her passion for Indian music by performing at local cultural and community events and training students in classical vocal music.
Akshaya Moorthi
Akshaya Moorthi is a BSc Pharmacology Honours student at the University of Alberta and a passionate vocalist who has been singing since the age of four. A Carnatically trained singer, she participated in Zee Tamil Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs Season 2, reaching the Top 8. Originally from Kerala and raised in Kenya from the age of three, Akshaya is a multilingual artist who continues to learn Carnatic and Hindustani music.
She teaches young children through Swaralaya by Akshaya in Edmonton and is also a passionate Bharatanatyam dancer. For Akshaya, music has always been a part of life, and she hopes to keep learning, performing, and sharing her love for music wherever her journey takes her.
Mazhathuli Media – Dance Troupe
Mazhathuli Media will present a mesmerizing dance troupe bringing energy, colour, and the magic of Bollywood to the stage. Their performances will beautifully synchronize with the international vocalists, creating a captivating blend of live music and dance.
The acclaimed troupe will also recreate iconic dance numbers immortalized during the Golden Era of Bollywood, celebrating the timeless music, choreography, and cinematic traditions that continue to inspire generations.
Through expressive choreography, vibrant presentation, and dynamic stage presence, Mazhathuli Media promises to capture the imagination of the audience and add a spectacular visual dimension to this celebration of Bollywood’s musical legacy.
