Sink into the exquisite musicality and existential lyricism of Sam Brookes and Leaf Rapids. Established on the Canadian Roots, Folk and Pop music scene, the evening promises to provide a wistful ambiance full of dreamy, thoughtful lyrics and ethereal and inviting melodies. Relax into everything from smoky harmonies to luscious guitar licks and eerie soundscapes produced on the theremin. An exquisite and effortless evening not to be missed.

Sam Brookes
Sam Brookes is reminiscent of Tim Buckley as he glides between the lower and upper registers of his four-octave range. His pure voice, evocative lyrics, and soaring melodies have cemented him as a respected figure in the alt-folk scene as an artist & collaborator.

Inspired by the British and American folk revivalists of the 60's, a sixteen-year-old Brookes began to write and perform while training as a gilder in his late father's workshop.

Brookes had begun to receive serious critical recognition when he self-released album, Kairos, being acclaimed by The Independent as one of the stand-out records of 2014 and tipped for the mercury nomination.

The past couple of years has seen Brookes collaborate with artist & producer Pete Josef, releasing music as Supalung. Brookes is currently recording new solo material with a release set for early 2025.

Leaf Rapids
Leaf Rapids is a small, isolated town in Northern Manitoba where the Aurora Borealis graffiti’s the winter skies. It is also the borrowed moniker of this Winnipeg band featuring sweet and smoky harmonies, luscious guitar licks, the eerie sound of the theremin, and a bassline that walks the talk.

Keri Latimer, Devin Latimer, Joanna Miller and Chris Dunn are realists and dreamers. They are chemistry professors, drywallers, child-rearers, and custodians of the night that croon about love as it applies to vultures, barbershop stabbings, satellites, and velvet paintings, to name a few.

Bring your own chair or seat. Grab a spot as early as 6:30 p.m.; all shows start at 7 p.m. No tickets required. There will be a pay-to-enter licensed area where alcoholic beverages or snacks can be purchased. Tickets for the licensed area will be $10, including an alcoholic beverage, and $6, including a non-alcoholic beverage and snack.
