JANUARY
Handling Tricky Friendships: Be Kind and Don’t Accept Nonsense (In That Order)
When you're trying to make and keep friends, kindness is a great strategy but that doesn’t mean you need to put up with things that feel wrong, unfair or hurtful. Real kindness includes standing up for yourself and others. At this Soulfire, we will play some games all about friendship and make Boundary Bracelets to wear as a reminder to be kind to yourself.
FEBRUARY
Painting with Kathleen
Using watercolours in a way completely outside the box- no rules, no right way, no focus on skills. The goal is to let go. When you let go of being perfect, let go of getting it “right” your nervous system can relax. Take a break from thinking about the past or worrying about the future, just be you right now!
MARCH
Anxiety Will Hate this Journal
Anxiety hates a plan. It thrives on uncertainty, so when you name your feelings, make a plan or draw your worries, you take away its power and start changing your fears into something you can handle. Come make a beautiful journal I hope you will love….but anxiety will hate!
APRIL
Getting Out of Our Comfort Zones
Stepping out of your comfort zone is an act of bravery and vulnerability-trying something new, silly or even a little scary while trusting you are safe. You will opportunity to choose a dare, sing a karaoke or taste a jellybean that you have no idea what flavour it turns out to be! Each time you stretch yourself your brain learns “I can do hard things!” which strengthens your mental health. Like always, you never have to do anything you don’t want to, bravery grows by choice, not by pressure.
MAY
Walk with Elder Tom
We will walk outside with our wonderful guest Elder Tom and explore the natural world in a fun and exciting way. We will learn that healing isn’t just one thing- it comes from many small, interconnected experiences. If we learn and see how the plants and animals interact with each other maybe we can learn life-changing lessons on how we want to live in our human world in a calmer, happier way.
JUNE
Park Party and BBQ!
Come celebrate with a BBQ at Lions Park. Play the games we played all year at Soulfire with your family. Let’s show them what you learned – they may even learn something new themselves!
