What's Happening

The City of St. Albert and Sturgeon County are presenting another “Wild About Wildlife” virtual information session on March 20 at 7 p.m.!

Riparian Specialist Kerri O’Shaughnessy will be our special guest to talk about one of Canada’s most iconic animals, the beaver. Known to inhabit lakes and streams across the country and in our own backyard, beavers are a keystone species in our landscape and play an important role in our natural environment.

From creating their own dams, storing and cleaning water, providing fish habitat, and helping regenerate willow and poplar forests, beavers can be uniquely beneficial on the landscape. We’ll also discuss human-beaver coexistence, measures to prevent conflict and how beavers can benefit humans through periods of drought.

You can submit one question online, and we will allow time for Kerri to answer them after her presentation.

Personal information obtained relating to this session is collected under the authority of Section 33(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, RSA 2000, c F-25, for the purpose of receiving public participation and decision-making.
