What's Happening

Come Learn about the Neil Ross Road Functional Study

The City of St. Albert, in collaboration with Sturgeon County, is advancing work on a functional planning study for the extension of Neil Ross Road to the potential 127 Street alignment. Associated Engineering, in partnership with Stantec Consulting Ltd. and Thurber Engineering, has been retained to investigate, analyze and prepare a preferred roadway alignment. Once constructed, the extension of Neil Ross Road will form an integral part of the City’s and sub-regional transportation network, supporting and enabling east-west connectivity.

This study, with an anticipated completion date of late May 2020, will support and reflect the principles of the City of St. Albert Transportation Master Plan and align to delivery of the Transportation Network Improvement Strategy. This transportation connection will enable the growth and development of the north-east quadrant of the City, support regional connectivity and meet the needs of expected long-term demands.

In addition, the study will consider current approved area structure plans; existing roadways; considerations of network accommodation with annexation; and input from stakeholders. Recommendations on how the road connection will be designed and constructed (phasing of construction) will be included.
